 Greene County Will Book 8, page 34 (No. 4515) Probated 08-27-1897 indicated his death occurred at 5:00 o'clock A. M. on August 8, 1897.

 PORTER.
  Thomas I. Porter, Esq., died at his home in Franklin township, about 4 o'clock Sunday morning, of apoplexy. Mr. Porter had been enjoying good health and the day before had worked in the harvest field. About 11 o'clock Saturday night he was taken suddenly ill and a physician called, but he was beyond medical aid. His death proved a shock to the community, as Mr. Porter was a well known citizen and was frequently seen upon our streets. He was a son in law of Hon. Mark Gordon, deceased, and leaves beside his wife, a son and daughter to mourn his demise. He was aged 63 years and was highly respected and influential in the community. The funeral was held on Monday at 2 p. m., Interment in Green Mount Cemetery.

 PORTER.
  Thos. I. Porter, of Franklin township, died very suddenly about 4 oÕclock Sunday morning, August 8, 1897 of Apoplexy, aged about 63 years. Mr. Porter had been in his usual health up to within a few hours of his demise. Deceased was an upright, honorable, respected citizen and leaves a wife and one son, William, and one daughter, Emma, to mourn their loss. Mrs. PorterÕs maiden name was Gordon, being a daughter of the late Mark Gordon. The funeral, which was very largely attended, took place Monday afternoon. Interment in Green Mount Cemetery.
