  "Thomas Rinehart Porter Son of Hiram Porter Margaret his wife was Born December the 5 in the year of our Lord 1849 Died April 8, 1886"

The census indicates that he was 8/12 year old and had not attended school within the year. He was living with his parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters. He is listed as having been born in Pennsylvania. His given name and middle initial are listed as "Thomas R" in this census.

 Thos. R. Porter Died - At his home, in Franklin township, on Thursday the 8th last, Thos. R. Porter, of consumption, aged 36 years. He was a son of Hiram Porter, deceased, and had only been sick about four weeks. He was unmarried and a kind, honorable and upright gentleman, and a member of the M. P. Church. His remains will be interred in Greene (sic) Mount Cemetery at this place, today, (Saturday) at 2 o'clock, a. (sic) m.

 PORTER
  Thomas Porter, Esq., died at his home in Franklin township, this county, Thursday evening, April 8th, 1886, aged 36 years, of consumption and a complication of diseases.
  Deceased was unmarried unmarried (sic) and a very highly respected citizen.
  He was a member of the Coallick M. P. church and a consistent Christian.
  The remains were followed to their last resting place, in Green Mount cemetery, on Saturday, by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends.
