Sophia Jane Barker
Sophia Jane Barker, 99, of the Washington County Health Center, formerly of Caldwell Avenue, Canton Township, died at the health center at 1:45 p. m. Thursday, September 6, 1984, following a 10-month illness.
She was born July 18, 1885, in East Finley, a daughter of Simon and Jane Wise Sprowls.
She was a member of Hart Avenue Nazarene Church and a charter member of the Union Valley Church.
Mrs. Barker lived in Washington for over 50 years and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She was married to Thomas Franklin Barker, who died February 17, 1956.
Surviving are three sons, Arthur S. Barker of Washington and Stanley Barker and Donald F. Barker, both of Toledo, Ohio; a daughter, Sylvia Jamison of Washington; twelve grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Howard W. and Elzie B. Barker, a daughter, Goldie Vitteck, three brothers and eight sisters are deceased.
She was the last of her immediate family.
BARKER - Friends of Sophia Jane Barker of the Washington County Health Center, formerly of Caldwell Avenue, Canton Township, who died Thursday, September 6, 1984, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. Saturday and noon to 3 and 7 to 9 p. m. Sunday in the Hummell and Barnhill Funeral Home Inc., 585 Fayette Street, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p. m. Monday, September 10, with the Rev. Floyd C. Marasco officiating. Burial in Washington Cemetery.
