Porter Word has been received of the death of Clarence L. Porter, of Detroit, Mich., brother-in-law of Waynesburg Attorney Kenneth W, Scott. He died Tuesday, January 2, 1962 (NOTE: THE DAY OF DEATH CONFLICTS WITH THAT LISTED ON HIS CEMETERY MONUMENT), in Lordsburg, N. M., while enroute to Tucson, Ariz. Mr. Porter had retired from the teaching profession in December and was traveling to Tucson, Ariz., where he and his wife planned to reside. He was born August 9, 1899 (NOTE: THE YEAR OF DEATH CONFLICTS WITH THAT LISTED ON HIS CEMETERY MONUMENT), in Center Township, a son of Levi and Malinda Bradford Porter. A graduate of Waynesburg High School and Penn State University, he had held several teaching positions. For a number of years, he taught biology and chemistry at Redstone High School, Detroit, Mich. He is survived by his wife, Leah Decker, formerly of Altoona, and two sons, William, of Detroit, Mich., and John, a student at the University of Arizona, Tucson. One brother, John I. Porter, and two sisters, Viola Scott and Miss Mary Porter, both formerly of Waynesburg, are deceased.
