Flynn, 93, retired merchant and real estate and insurance agent, who was well-known in the district, died at 8 oÕclock last night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John C. Patterson, of Beaver Falls. He resided at 21 Laurel avenue and had been visiting in Beaver Falls. Born December 27, 1861, in Painesville, O., a son of Michael and Catherine Mahoney Flynn, he was a businessman in Washington and Greene Counties for many years. Mr. Flynn opened his first merchandise store at Time, Greene County, in 1887, shortly after his marriage to Mary Minerva Sprowls of Simpson Store near Enon. He later operated a store at Good Intent, and then opened a large general store at Claysville, which he sold to Tilton Beabout of Claysville about 1920. After selling the store in Claysville, Mr. Flynn opened a real estate and insurance office in South Main street in the building where the George Washington Hotel now stands. He later moved the office to 75 South Main street and was active until his retirement in 1947 at the age of 85. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of Washington and the MenÕs Bible Class. His wife died May 7, 1947. Surviving are three sons, Charles Morford Flynn, of Daytona Beach, Fla., Cecil Burns Flynn, of Clarksburg, W. Va., and one daughter, Bessie Jane, wife of John C. Patterson, Beaver Falls. One daughter, Nellie Hazel, died in 1916. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Dr. Charles Shirey Flynn, Bluefield, W. Va., William Johnson Flynn, Washington, Mary Joanne Flynn Mahlke, Warwood, W. Va., Russell Sprowls Flynn Jr., United States Air Force stationed in Greenville, Miss., John Michael Patterson, Beaver Falls. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren.
