Sprowls
Melvin Wayne Sprowls, 73, of 95 Caldwell Avenue, Washington, died in Washington Hospital, Friday, February 25, 1977, at 4 a.m. following a brief illness.
Born in West Finley, March 10, 1903, a son of Jacob and Minnie Henry Sprowls, he was a Protestant by faith. Mr. Sprowls had been a self-employed carpenter.
In 1972, he married Frances Riggs, who survives.
Also surviving are the following children by a previous marriage: Carl, of Dennison, Ohio; Sarah, wife of Jared Crowe of Navarre, Ohio; Betty, wife of John Gotshall of Carrollton, Ohio; Mary, wife of Frank Brito of Maywood, Calif.; Raymond Sprowls of Washington; Fred Sprowls of Carlisle; Faye, wife of Charles Hoe of Tonawada, N. Y.; Diane Smith and John Smith, both at home; three sisters, Sylvia, wife of Ross Reese of West Finley; Daisy, wife of Frank Harris of Washington; Rea (sic), wife of Kenneth Karr of Townsond (sic), Del.; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
SPROWLS - Friends of Melvin Wayne Sprowls of 95 Caldwell Avenue, Washington, who died Friday, February 25, 1977, will be received in the William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Avenue, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and until time of the funeral at 1 p.m. Monday, February 28. Services will be in the funeral home with Pastor Richard C. Meloy of the Grace Bible Church officiating. Burial in West Finley Cemetery.
