  CONFLICTING DATE (November 23, 1903) OF DEATH per an email from Ruth Sprowls on May 4, 2003.
  Information from "Re: William and Mariah Newland Sprowls, Washington Co.PA" posted on the Sprowls Message Board on RootsWeb states the following: "I have been to Fairmount Cemetery, William was born 12-9-1807 and died 2-6-1883. Mariah was born 7-14-1810 and died 3-29-1898. (Posted by Connie on November 3, 2003)

 The following is from "History of William/Simon Sprowls Homestead and Its Occupants" (Louis Sprowls letter dated February 20, 2004)
  December 12, 1828 - 100 acres of bounty land to Revolutionary War Veteran, Matthew/Matthias Newland who possibly lived in old house still standing in hollow east of homestead (still used for storage of hay and machinery). This building was last used for human occupancy in early 1930's by a farm hand of Herschel Sprowls.
  1839 - Marriage of Mariah Newland (1810-1892) to William Sprowls (1807-1883)
  December 24, 1868 - Marriage of Simon Sprowls (1845-1904) to Elizabeth Jane Wise (1847-1930) (Simon Sprowls purchsed the farm from his father [Date not known])
  About 1889 - House located across the road from present house burned. Original section of present house was erected on its present location from a log house situated on the separate tract on the first ridge to the west of present house. This section included the large living room, kitchen and two upstairs bedrooms.
  About 1906 - Addition (parlor, two upstairs bedrooms, hall and two porches) built
  1904 - Simon Sprowls passed away
  1921 - Jane Sprowls and other family members left the farm
  1922 - Floyd & Edna Clutter (stepson of Thomas Sprowls) and children moved to farm
  1928 - Thomas Sprowls killed in an industrial accident
  1930 - Jane Sprowls passed away and left farm to heirs
  1932 - Herschel and Stella Sprowls and children moved to the farm
  1950 - Herschel and Stella Sprowls moved from the farm and sold farm to Ralph Porter (grandson of Simon Sprowls)
  1952 -Alvin and Jane Craig purchased the farm and moved there

  Simon Sprowls, all my land tenements in East Finley, Twp. Washington County Pennsylvania.
  Simon Sprowls is to pay my daughter, Minerva $954.00 in manner as follows $318.00 in 1 year after the deceased of my self and wife the remainder in 2 equal annual payments. To my son,
  David Sprowls, the sum of $954.00. to be paid within 5 years.
  To my son Morgan Sprowls the sum of $954.00 to be paid within 5 years after the death of my self and wife.
  Personal property willed to daughter, Minerva shall have 1 bed, and bedding, 1 cow, 1 bureau, son Morgan, 1 horsebridle and saddle, or in lieu thereof $100.00.
  Mrs. Susan Porter, wife of Samuel Porter 1 bed and bedding one my wife and I sleep on. As to any other bed or bedding left equally divided among my four children, books equally divided between my four children. Personal property, livestock to be appraised sold and equally divided among my 3 sons, and I further will my Executors shall place a head stones to my self and wife.
