Wise, aged 73 years, a former resident of Waynesburg, but for several years the proprietor of a grocery and confectionery store in West Maiden street, Washington, Pa., was fatally injured Thursday evening of last week about 5:30 oÕclock within 50 feet of his residence , when he was struck by an inbound Pennsylvania passenger train at the West Maiden street crossing, in Washington. Mr. Wise was given first aid by railroad employes (sic) but died while being removed to the Washington hospital. Mr. Wise had been getting coal from a shed built along the Pennsylvania tracks and was making his second trip from the shed to his house when he received his injuries. Mr. Wise was familiar with the train schedule but had evidently become confused and had failed to note the approach of the train. He was hurled to the side, receiving a fractured skull and injuries to his back. He never regained consciousness, Born in West Finley township, Washington county, in 1852, Mr. Wise had spent the greater part of his life there and in Waynesburg. He made his home in the building in which his store was locatede (sic). Mrs. Wise died several years ago. Five children survive: Ollie Wise, of Waynesburg; Mrs. John Clutter, R. D. 1, Deer Lick; Mrs. Charles Ealy, Claysville; Lawrence Wise, Brookfield, Mo.; and Robert Wise, Oklahoma City, Okla. One brother and two sisters also survive: L. S.
