 MRS. JOHN S. HAMMERS
  Mrs. Dessie Huffman Hammers, 81 years, of North Franklin street, Washington, died suddenly Wednesday, February 20, 1957. She was a daughter of James Monroe Swart and Sarah Ullom (sic) Swart, and was born July 6, 1875, in West Finley Township. Mrs. Hammers was a member of Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church in Washington. She married William Huffman, who is deceased. Surviving from this marriage is one son, James Huffman of Columbus, Ohio. Later she was married to John S. Hammers, who died April 28, 1941. Descendants from this marriage are a son, J. Herbert Hammers, with whom she made her home; one daughter, Miss Ruth Hammers, at home; two step-sons, Harold Hammers of Cameron, W. Va., and Robert Hammers of Ebensburg, and one step-daughter, Mrs. Mabel Howard of Kentucky. Also surviving are one brother, James Swart, and one sister, Mrs. Etta Shaw, both of West Finley. Funeral services were held Friday in Enon Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Reynolds. Interment in the church cemetery.
