Note: N638 T. J. HUFFMAN, farmer, Oak Forest, Penn. - The subject of this sketch was born in Center Township, Greene County, Penn., August 30, 1829. He is a son of Joseph and Sarah (Hunt) Huffman. On December 27, 1855, Mr. Huffman was united in marriage with Caroline Hathaway, who was born in Washington County, Penn., and is a daughter of Jacob and Jane Hathaway, residents of Washington County, Penn. Mr. and Mrs. Huffman have a family of nine children, eight of whom are living, viz: Joseph, Jacob, Robert, Daniel, Charlie W., Lizzie, Belle and Dora, and Jennie (deceased). Mr. Huffman was reared on a farm, and has been engaged in farming throughout his life. He owns about 240 acres of land in Greene County. He had been married for 45 years and was living with his wife and 1 son, Charlie, on a farm, which was owned free of any mortgage. He is listed as having been born in Pennsylvania as were his father and mother. His given name and middle initial are listed as ÒThomas JÓ in this census. -------------------- HUFFMAN. - Mr. T. J. Huffman, of Oak Forest, died on the 8th inst. (NOTE: THE DAY OF DEATH CONFLICTS WITH INFORMATION FOUND IN OTHER SOURCES), after a protracted illness. He was aged 72 years. He was long a devoted member of the Christian church, and was highly respected as a citizen. His aged wife survives him. His sons are Joseph and Jacob Huffman of Rogersville; Robert, of Time, and David and Charles, of Oak Forest; daughters are Mrs. Elizabeth Gamber of Washington; Mrs. Belle Crouse and Mrs. Dora Engle at home. The funeral took place Saturday.
