A horrible accident which resulted fatally occurred at the Tin Plate mill at Waynesburg Thursday evening about 7:30 oÕclock and Frank Shaw, employed there as an oiler was the victim. Shaw was attending to his duties at the hour mentioned, being on the night turn, when his clothes caught in the machinery and he was drawn be-between (sic) the spindles of the rolls. As he realized his peril he called loudly for help, and his fellow employes hurried to his aid, but before they could get word to the engineer to turn off the machinery Shaw was beyond help. He was drawn through a space of about six inches, not only once, but two or three times, and finally doubled up and drawn through. When pulled out he was dead, being literally crushed from head to foot, and presenting a ghastly sight. As soon as the accident was discovered the whistle of the mill was blown as an alarm, and many citizens recognizing that something had happened hurried to that point. The remains of the victim were taken to the Carter undertaking establishment soon afterward. Shaw was aged about 23 years, and had been employed at the mill since last April, having resided in Waynesburg but a short time. He is survived by a wife and one child. His former home was at Enon, in Richhill township, Greene county, and his father, who also resides at Enon is Isaac Shaw a very well-known and highly respected farmer. The son was also a highly respected young man. This is the first fatal accident to occur at that mill since it started operations several months ago.
