FRANCIS, CHARLES KENNETH-- Charles Kenneth Francis, 90, of Valley View Road, Claysville, died Friday, April 6, 2001, in Washington Hospital.
He was born February 20, 1911, in East Finley Township, a son of George Plants Francis and Josephine Porter Francis. Mr. Francis was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church in East Finley Township.
A graduate of Claysville High School, he retired in 1973 after 32 years of employment with Jessop Steel in Washington. He later worked part-time for West Penn Wire/CDT in Washington for several years. Mr. Francis was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting small game and deer.
His first wife, Ethel Edna Danley, is deceased. Surviving are his second wife, Hildreth Gall Francis; four sons, John K. Francis of Washington, George P. Francis of Carlisle, and Charles K. and Charles E. Francis, both of Claysville; four daughters, Mona Lee Morris of Claysville, Mary Lou Galentine and Lisa LeeAnn Sorice, both of Washington, and Peggy Jo Baka!itis of Canonsburg; two sisters, Margaret Newlyn and Grace Meighen, both of Washington; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother, William Ronald Francis; a sister, Leanna Alcinda Bristor; and a brother and two sisters who died in infancy.
Services were held Monday, April 9 with the Rev. Bruce K. Merritt officiating. Interment followed in Claysville Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Lung Association of Western Pennsylvania, 201 Smith Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066. (Claysville Weekly Recorder)
