 Margaret Newlyn

  Margaret Francis Newlyn, 90, formerly of Prosperity, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2003, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington.
  She was born August 3, 1912, in West Finley, a daughter of George P. and Josephine Porter Francis.
  Mrs. Newlyn attended Jordan School, which was a one-room school in West Finley.
  She graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1930 and also attended business college in Wheeling W.Va.
  Mrs. Newlyn was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Prosperity.
  She was a member of Dames of Malta, Daughters of the American Revolution of Waynesburg and Prosperity and Lagonda homemakers.
  Mrs. Newlyn was employed for seven years at Gettig Appliances and was later employed in the accounting department at Washington Hospital, where she served as a volunteer for many years.
  On November 18, 1933, she married Robert Newlyn, who died December 6, 1970.
  Surviving are a daughter, Joan Powell of Adams, Tenn.; a sister, Grace Meighen of Washington; two grandchildren, Mark and Keith Powell; and five great-grandchildren.
  Deceased are two brothers, Ronald and Kenneth Francis; a sister, Leanna Bristor; and a brother and two sisters who died in infancy.

  NEWLYN Ð Friends of Margaret Francis Newlyn, formerly of Prosperity, who died Monday, March 24, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, with the Rev. Thomas H. Clymer officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
