This was her second marriage, the first one ending due to desertion on July 7, 1943. -------------------- Obituary from Democrat Messenger, Thursday, April 7, 1983, page 2 (files of Cornerstone Genealogical Society, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania) Goldie Powers Jones, 82, of 489 Castle Shannon Blvd, Mount Lebanon, (formerly of Waynesburg) died at 2:15 a. m. Wednesday, April 6, 1983 following a lengthy illness. Born June 14, 1900 in Morris Twp, she was a daughter of the late Orland A. and Daisy Porter Powers. Her first husband, Floyd Rush, died in 1948. Her second husband Jesse E. Jones Sr., died April 15, 1977. She spent most of her life in Greene Co, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg. For several years, she was employed by S. M. Smith and Dr. H. E. Murray. She had also been employed by Waynesburg College as a housemother. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Parker (Betty) Crow of Athens, Ohio and Mrs. Guy (Virginia) Luzier of Logan, Ohio; three grandchildren, Thomas Hartzell of Elkins, W. Va., Mrs. Dana (Deanna) Channell of the Plains, Ohio, and Mrs. Kenneth (Connie) Becker of Columbus, Ohio.
