PORTER David Edward Porter, retired City Police sergeant, died Tuesday, March 4, 1969, at 3:15 p.m. in the Havencrest Nursing Home, Charleroi, after a lingering illness. Sgt. Porter, who lived at 160 Springfield Avenue, was on the police force 38 years, retiring in 1962. He was born March 20, 1884, at Nineveh, Greene County, a son of David and Jane Huffman Porter. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church and Fraternal Order of Police No. 95, Washington. His wife, Lucy Meighen Porter, died October 2, 1968. Surviving are one son, Glenn E. Porter, of Charleroi; three grandchildren, Eleanore, wife of Dr. James Snow, of York; Carol Porter, of New Castle, and Lt. Glenn E. Porter, Jr., with the U.S. Army Military Police, Frankfurt, Germany, and one sister, Minnie Porter, of Baltimore, Md. A brother and five sisters are deceased.
