King, aged 62, well known hardware merchant of Waynesburg, died Sunday morning, April 21, 1940, at 6:30 oÕclock at his home, 64 West Lincoln street, Waynesburg. Mr. King had been in poor health for some time, but his condition did not become critical until last week. Mr. King, a lifelong resident of Greene County, had been engaged in the hardware business in Waynesburg for a number of years, being a member of the firm known as King, Hoge & Co. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Waynesburg and a regular attendant of the MenÕs Bible Class of the church. A son of David (NOTE: THE GIVEN NAME OF HIS FATHER CONFLICTS WITH THAT FROM OTHER SOURCES) and Lucinda Porter King, he was born February 13, 1878, in Wayne Township, where he spent his early life. His wife, Birdie Grimes King, died May 14, 1926. He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy and Marjorie King, both at home, and one brother, Jesse King, of Blacksville, W. Va. The following brothers and sisters are deceased: David R. P. King, Charles H. King, Mrs. Matilda Jane Sedwick, and Mrs. Margaret Ann South.
