Born July 9, 1843 -d. Sept. 7, 1933, son of John and Elsie (Shultz) Meighen. Enlisted in 1862, when 19, as a Private in Co. A, 140th Pa. Vol. Inf., and served throughout the Civil War. He was the last of Richhill Township's veterans of the Civil War. Married 1881, Lucinda Gordon (b. 1858 - d. 1943), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gordon. Both buried at Wind Ridge. Twelve children: Lucy (Porter), Alice (McGlumphy), Adalyn (Thomas), John L., Frank W., Robert P., James L., Kate (Minton), Mark, Glenn, Mary, and William G. Mr. Meighen was a squire in Wind Ridge, known not only for his own good humor but also for his ability to keep a group in good humor, and also for his peacemaking ability in settling quarrells and disputes.
