 --------------------
The paternal grandfather, Arthur Sprowls, was a native of Ireland and during the days of the American Revolution he went to England, expecting to immigrate to America, but it was two years before he could get passage, owing to the war. He finally succeeded in securing passage on a sailing vessel, and he became an early settler of Pennsylvania, where he purchased one hundred acres of land and where he spent the remainder of his life.
