 East Finley Native
  Mrs. Josephine P. Francis, 73, of 212 Irwin Street, died at her home Tuesday, July 11, 1961, at 10:50 a. m. She had been in failing health for a number of years.
  A native of East Finley Township, she was born March 19, 1888, a daughter of the late David R. and Jane Huffman Porter and spent her early life in her native community.
  On December 1, 1906 she was united in marriage with George P. Francis of East Finley, and they observed their 54th wedding anniversary December 1, 1960. George Francis was a mail carrier in this area for 40 years. He preseded her in death December 10, 1960.
  Mrs. Francis was a member of the Union Valley Church, West Finley Township; Dames of Malta Sisterhood No. 127, Washington; Rebekah Lodge No. 584, Claysville, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rural Letter Carriers Association.
  Surviving are two sons, William Ronald, Loraine, Ohio and Charles Kenneth, Claysville; three daughters, Margaret, wife of Robert Newlyn, Prosperity; Leanna, wife of Kenneth Bristor, Washington, and Grace, wife of Harold Meignen (sic), Washington; one sister Miss Minnie Porter, Prosperity; one brother, D. E. Porter, Washington, 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Three children are deceased.
  Funeral services will be held at the Brownlee Funeral Home, Friday, July 14, 1961, at 1:30 p. m., in charge of Rev. Parker Large, pastor of the Claysville Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Claysville Cemetery.
