 Greene County Deed Book 42, page 569 Margaret Ann Porter, Executrix of James Porter, deceased, to Samuel Luse a certain tract of land containing 208 acres, 3 rods and 32 perches, more or less, situate in Franklin Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania for and in consideration of the sum of $12,537 ($60 per acre). The original contract between the two men was dated March 31, 1876. January 28, 1885

 James Porter
  On Thursday last, November 8, 1883, James Porter, of Morrisville, died of erysipelas, at the residence of his nephew, Henry L. Huffman, aged about 68 years. Mr. Porter had been afflicted for several years past with the disease above named; at times suffering intense pain. He was at one time one of the most substantial men, financially of our county, was upright in all his business dealings and was an industrious, and hard-working man. His remains were buried in the family garve yard on the farm of Armstrong Porter, in Franklin township, on the following day, Friday.

 Will of James Porter Dec'd (Greene County Will Book 5, page 426-No. 3370)
  I, James Porter, of Franklin Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania, being of sound mind do make and publish the following as and for my last will and testament. First, I will devise and bequeath all my estate of every kind and nature to my niece Margaret Ann Porter of Wayne Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania, daughter of "Jack" Porter provided she never gives or bestows any part of said devise and bequest and estate and property passing and to pass thereby to her brother David R. Porter and in case and in the event that the said Margaret Ann Porter should give or bestow in any way any part of the said property and estate to and upon the said David R. Porter, then the whole of the said property estate and goods so devised and bequeathed to her shall be owned enjoyed and distributed between the children of the said "Jack" Porter share and share alike excluding therefrom the said David R. Porter and the said Margaret Ann Porter. Second I appoint the said Margaret Porter Executrix of this my last will and testament.
  Witness my hand and seal this 19th day of October, 1883.

  Before me, W. W. Patterson, Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration, in and for said county came J. B. Willison and B. F. Herrington the two subscribing witnesses to the above and foregoing Will, who being sworn according to law, say that they were present and saw and heard James Porter the Testator, sign, seal, publish, pronounce, and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last Will and Testament, and, at the time of so doing he was of sound mind, memory and understanding, to the best of their knowledge and belief, and that they signed the same as witnesses at his request, in his presence and in the presence of each other.

  As to the death see affidavit of J. S. Porter who being duly sworn according to law, says the above named James Porter died on the 8th day of November A.D. 1883 at about 7 o'clock A.M. of said day.
 And now Nov. 9th, A.D. 1883 Letters Testamentary Granted to Margaret Ann Porter Executrix as named in the will.
  Inventory filed December 18th A.D. 1883.
