In 1820 census he is listed as the head of a family living in Franklin Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania comprised of 2 free white males under 10, 1 free white male 10 to 16, 1 free white male 26 to 45, 3 free white females under 10 and 1 free white female 26 to 45. He was engaged in agriculture. -------------------- Greene County Will Book 1, page 278 (No. 513) Estate of Joseph Porter, deceased. Letters of Administration granted to Jesse Rinehart, 14th Jan. 1826-Bond given with Levi Rinehart and William Inghram securities-renunciation of widow same day. -------------------- Orphan's Court Docket 1 (1799-1832) page 229 Armstrong Porter, Hiram Porter and Nancy Porter, minors above the age of 14, their father Joseph Porter died intestate, petition court to confirm choice of guardian. William Inghram of Armstrong, William Hill by Hiram, Shadrack Mitchell by Nancy. On the petition of ______ Porter, widow and relict of Joseph Porter, dec'd, setting forth that her husband died intestate leaving five young children under the age of 14 years to wit, Hannah, Maria, Emmanuel (Emanuel). Eliza Ann and Rinehart that they have no guardians and praying the court to appoint a proper person for that purpose. The court appoints W. S. harvey, Esq. and levi Rinehart guardians. Orphan's Court Docket 1 (1799-1832) page 276 3rd Monday of November 1828 Hon. T. H. Bayard On the petition of Jesse Rinehart, admin of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of Jospeh Porter, late of Franklin Twp. deceased, at the time of his death who died intestate humbly sheweth that the said intestate left issue That the person and estate is insufficient for the payment of his debts as by the account herewith produced appears, and that the intestate died seized in his domain as of fee in a certain tract of unimproved land situate in Franklin Twp adjoining lands of William Inghram and others Containing about eleven acres more or less. - Order for sale of said tract for payment of debts and education and maintenance of minor children. Orphan's Court Docket 1 (1799-1832) page 283 March Term 1829 Jesse Rinehart administrator of estate of Joseph Porter died intestate without sufficient funds to pay debts petitions court to appoint auditors to adjust rates and proportion remaining assets and apportion them among the respective creditors. Court appointed Benjamin Campbell, Benjamin Jennings & Jesse Lazear Auditors report that money in the hands of administrator will pay the judgements specialties and incidental expenses exhibited to them and the simple contract debts in the proportion of 46 cents and 6 mills to the dollar.
