  Mr. Armstrong Porter, an old and much respected citizen died at the home of his son Thomas Porter in Franklin township, this county, Monday, Dec. 29, aged 83 years. The funeral was held on Wednesday the remains being interred in the cemetery here.

 PORTER.
  Mr. Armstrong Porter, died on Monday, Dec. 29, 1890, at the home of his son, Mr. Thomas Porter of Franklin township. Mr. Porter was an aged and respected citizen with many friends and relatives. The remains were interred in the cemetery at this place on Wednesday last.

 Will of Armstrong Porter Dec'd (Greene County Will Book 6, page 420-No. 3907)
  In the name of God, Amen. I, Armstrong Porter, of Franklin Township, Greene County, and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last will and testament.
 And first, I direct that my body be decently interred in Green-mount Cemetery, by the side of my wife Olive, and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life. As to such estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows, Viz.: I direct that my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my Executor hereinafter named, as soon after my decease as may be found convenient. Item. I give and bequeath to Mrs. Hannah Cummins, wife of John Cummins, the note for about One hundred dollars, and its interest, which I hold against the said John Cummins. Item. I give and bequeath to my grand son Thomas I. Barnes (son of my late daughter Elizabeth, wife of William Barnes), One bed and bedding. Item. I give and bequeath to my grand-daughter Annie L. Barnes, (daughter of my late daughter Elizabeth, wife of William Barnes,) One bed and bedding. Item. I give and bequeath to my three grand children, Henry P. Barnes, Thomas I. Barnes and Annie L. Barnes, (children of my late daughter Elizabeth, wife of William Barnes,) the note for about One hundred and fifty dollars and its interest, which I hold against the said William Barnes, to be divided between them equally, share and share alike. Item. I also give and bequeath to my three grand children Henry P. Barnes, Thomas I. Barnes and Annie L. Barnes, (children of my late daughter Elizabeth, wife of William Barnes,) the note for abount two hundred and fifty dollars and its interest, which I hold against Jacob Lough, to be divided between them equally, share and share alike. Item. I also give and bequeath to my three grand children Henry P. Barnes, Thomas I. Barnes and Annie L. Barnes, (children of my late daughter Elizabeth, wife of William Barnes,) the Mortgage for Two thousand dollars and its interest, which I hold against the said William Barnes, dated the 19th day of July A.D. 1877, to be divided between them equally, share and share alike. Item. All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, whether real, personal or mixed, of whatsoever kind or nature the same may be, I give, devise, and bequeath to my son Thomas I. Porter, his heirs and assigns forever. And lastly, I do nominate, constitute and appoint my said son Thomas I. Porter to be the executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I, Armstrong Porter, the Testator, have to this, my will, set my hand and seal, this 23rd day of August, A.D. One thousand eight hundred and eighty seven.

  Before me Eli Titus Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for said county, personally appeared Arthur I. Lindsey and James Inghram the two subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing, purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Armstrong Porter late of Franklin Township in the county of Greene, deceased, who being sworn according to law, depose and say that they were personally present and saw and heard the said testator sign, seal, publish and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his Last Will and Testament and that they signed their names as witnesses to said instrument of writing in the presence of the said testator and at his request, and in the presence of each other, and at the time of signing the same he, the said testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of their knowledge and belief and that as they shall answer to God at the Great Day.

  And now January 9, 1891 Letters Testamentary upon the Estate of Armstrong Porter deceased, granted to Thomas I. Porter Executor as named in the Will. He having first been duly sworn.
