Sprowls, postmaster at West Finley, died at his home in Burnsville at an early hour yesterday, after a brief illness, of pneumonia. Mr. Sprowls was born near Burnsville, where he resided until the breaking out of the War of the Rebellion when he enlisted and served with distinction in the cavalry service through the war. Later he went to the West and for several years was engaged extensively in buying and selling cattle on a ranch in South Dakota. He returned to West Finley about 18 years ago, and a year or two later was married to Miss Belle Wallace. Since that time he has resided in Burnsville. About the year 1898 Mr. Sprowls was appointed assistant postmaster at West Finley, Dr. W. L. Grim being the postmaster. The latter removed to West Washington about three years ago and Mr. Sprowls was appointed to the vacancy, a position which he had since held, and the many patrons of the office, as well as on the various R. F. D. routes leaving West Finley, all attest to his efficiency and his courteous treatment. He was aged about 61 years. He is survived by Mrs. Sprowls and the following children: Vaun, Dean, Ivy, Mabel and Mary, all at home, Montgomery, Wyit and Morgan V. Sprowls, of West Finley, are brothers of the deceased, and Mrs. Margaret Berry, of Bethany, Mo., and Mrs. William Jenkins of West Finley, are sisters.
