Mrs. John L. (Bertha) Post, 96, of Blaine Township, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday, July 18, 1980, in Hillsview Rest Home, Claysville R.D.1, after a lingering illness.
She was born December 7, 1883, in West Finley, a daughter of Morgan V. and Alice Beymer Sprowls.
Mrs. Post lived in the Taylorstown area for the past 75 years. She was a former member of the Taylorstown United Presbyterian Church and at the time of her death was a member of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Missionary Society. She was a charter member of Evening Star Chapter No. 187, Claysville.
Mrs. Post was also a member of Claysville Grange No. 1510 for the past 60 years. She graduated from California Normal School.
On January 20, 1905, she married John L. Post, who died May 7, 1959.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Irwin of Claysville, Mrs. Alice Berry of Eighty Four, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy Knox) Allison of Claysville R.D.1 and Mrs. Leonard (Helen Martha) Kirby of Belen, N.M., one son, Clarke S. Post of Avella R.D.1; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and one granddaughter are deceased.
POST - Friends of Mrs. John L. (Bertha) Post of Blaine Township, who died Friday, July 18, 1980, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Howard V. Ferrell Funeral Home, 219 Main Street, Claysville, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, by the Rev. Richard G. Yates. Burial in Claysville Cemetery.
