Porter, Pruden- tial Employe, Shoots Himself Twice Fatally wounded in the left chest by two bullets fired from a .38 caliber revolver by his own hand, according to officers, William Clarence Porter, 46 of 157 Lawrence avenue, died as he was being admitted to Washington Hospital yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Porter, for 15 years in the insurance business as an employe of the Prudential Life Insurance Company, was found along the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks, near the Washington Tin Plate plant, shortly after 3 o'clock by Jack Yanzokek, of 119 Scott avenue, who notified officers. Officers said a .38 caliber revolver was near Porter's hand and that powder burns on his breast were evidence of a deliberate attempt to take his own life. He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance of the A. Blaine Day Funeral Home but succumbed to his wounds as he was being admitted. A farewell note was written by Porter, it was said, to his wife and daughter and to his mother. His wife, Lillian V. Blackburn Porter, survives with a daughter, Mildred at home. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Lucy A. Porter, and the following brothers and sisters: Harry B. Porter, Wendell Porter, Mrs. Charles V. (sic) Jolley, Miss Mabel Porter and Miss Helen G. Porter, all of Washington. He was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Ollie Cline Lodge No. 43, I. O. O. F. Funeral services will be held in the late home Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of the Rev. W. M. Kennedy, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery.
