Mrs. Porter was a daughter of William and Elizabeth Dague Doak, and was born February 14, 1861, near Scenery Hill. Her husband, William E. Porter, died in 1917. Surviving are four children, Misses Mabel and Helen G. Porter, at home; Harry B. Porter, of Washington, and L. Wendell Porter, of Washington; one brother, Boyd W. Doak, of Washington, and one sister, Fannie, wife of Milton Toland, of Houston. Mrs. Porter formerly resided in Fayette County, but spent the last 25 years in Washington. She was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church.
