Mrs. Scott was a daughter of Levi and Matilda Bradford Porter, and was born in Center township. She was a graduate of California State TeachersÕ College and attended Waynesburg College and the University of Pittsburgh. She was a teacher in the East Waynesburg schools for twelve years and was primary supervisor in the East Tenn. TeachersÕ College, Johnson City, Tenn., for two years. In 1922 she was united in marriage with Kenneth W. Scott. Scott, well known Greene County woman, died Sunday morning, July 23, 1939, at her home in Waynesburg following an illness of several months of heart aliments. She was born in Center Township, a daughter of Levi and Malinda Bradford Porter, and had spent practically all her life in Waynesburg. She was educated in the schools of Waynesburg, graduated from California State TeachersÕ College and attended Waynesburg College and Pittsburgh University. She taught in the East Waynesburg school for 12 years and was primary supervisor in the East Tennessee TeachersÕ College for two years. She was married in 1922 to Mr. Scott. She was always very active in community enterprises and church work. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Waynesburg; past president of the Tri-County Council of the American Legion Auxiliary, and past regent of the John Corbly Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was one of the organizers of the Greene County Historical Society. The society was organized in her home and at that time she was elected the secretary of the society, which office she held until her death. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Waynesburg and was the secretary of the WomenÕs Missionary Society of the church. Besides her husband she is survived by one sister, Miss Mary Porter, at home; one brother, Clarence Porter, Detroit, Mich.; one nephew, William David Porter, Detroit, Mich.; one half-sister, Mrs. Florence Maser (sic), Washington. A brother, John Inghram Porter, died in service while in a training camp during the World War.
