 George E. Knox
  Retired manager for Sears Auto Center
  George E. Knox, 70, of Claysville, died at 10:19 a.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006, in Washington Hospital, after battling cancer for the past six months.
  He was born June 10, 1936, in Washington, a son of Dorothy Belle Post Knox of Washington and the late Clyde Monroe Knox.
  He had resided in the Claysville area all of his life.
  Mr. Knox was a 1954 graduate of the former Claysville High School.
  He was a member of Claysville Christian Church, where he was serving as an elder, trustee, church custodian and member of the choir.
  He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served as a lance corporal (E3) with the U.S. Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Va.
  Mr. Knox was a former employee of Suwak Trucking, McGraw Edison and Wagner Tire of McDonald. He was last employed as Auto Center manager at Sears in Washington for 22 years, prior to retiring in 1991.
  He enjoyed woodworking, restoring antique cars and auto mechanics.
  On March 28, 1959, he married Mary Snyder, who survives.
  Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are three daughters, Debra, wife of Fred Group of Washington, Diane, wife of William Zoeller III of Claysville, and Eva Jo, wife of Ray Shingle of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; a brother, Charles, husband of Vickie Knox of Washington; two sisters, Frances, wife of Sonny Morehead of Claysville, and Cindy, wife of Thomas Munnell of Aurora, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Rae Lyn Group McMillion, Ryan and Reva Group, Edward, David and William Zoeller IV, Alex, Jacob and Steffani Shingle.
  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Claysville Christian Church, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, with the Rev. Meade Lacock officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, East Finley Township.
  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Claysville Christian Church, P.O. Box 726, 128 Church Street, Claysville, PA 15323.
