Note: John is known as Jack to his family and friends. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and lived there until age 5, when he moved with his family to Pontiac, MI. From age 7-10 he lived in Flint, MI. Jack lived in Lansing, MI at age 13, Charlotte, North Carolina at 14, Anderson, South Carolina from 15-16, Cincinnati, OH while 17 and then back to Detroit at 18, where he graduated from Northwestern High School.
After graduation he worked for 1 year at Cadillac Motor Company, working on superchargers. At the outbreak of WWII, Jack enlisted in the Army and served for 3 years, primarily doing cryptography work. Army identification #16105585. Jack traveled to South Africa, India and China during the war.
After the war Jack entered Adrian College in Adrian, MI. and graduated in 1949. During his college years he worked for Montgomery Wards as a stroller maker and for A&P as a stock boy. Jack married Helen Knight of Adrian in 1949. They set up their household initially in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and thereafter lived in Belleville and Wayne.
While raising his children, he was active with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a leader of that group while his children were members.
Since his retirement, Jack has renewed his interest in golf. Jack and his wife Helen now travel the country, doing volunteer work for a Christian organization called MMAP. Church affiliation: Baptist, Congregational, Episcopal. Jack joined the Masons in 1996 and became a Master Mason.
Jack passed away from complications due to COPD under the kind care of Hospice.

ADRIAN - John Kerr Law, 88, known as "Jack" to his family and friends, passed away Jan. 8, 2012.
He was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Detroit, Mich. Jack was the oldest son of John Kerr and Pearle Evelyn (DeRoche) Law. He is survived by his children, Mark (Tracey) Law of Saline, John (Gloria) Law of El Cerrito, Calif., James (Terry) Law of Canton and Mary (Sam) Medrano of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jason, Michelle, Matthew, Jeremy, Dylan and Shawn; and one great-grandson, Elijah King Law. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Ruby (Knight) Law, and his brother, Lindsay Law of California. He is survived by his second wife, Helen Cox of Adrian.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Wagley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Herter officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012.
