Note: RALPH EMERY KNIGHT by Fern Trebilcock Ralph Emery Knight, aged 80, passed away in Circleville, Ohio, where he had lived for many years. Born in Tecumseh, Michigan, August 23, 1921, he was the son of Alvah and Ruby Johnson Knight, who preceded him in death. In 1925 the family moved to Adrian. He married Ruby Gentry in 1943, and she passed away in 1957. In 1987 he married Roseanne and she survives. Ralph graduated from Adrian High School in 1939. From there he attended Adrian College for two years. He obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan in 1949, and a Master of Science in Engineering from the U. of M. in 1950. He enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard in 1941, and entered Officers’ Training at the Coast Guard Training Station in Groton, Connecticut. and was commissioned an Ensign. He served four years in the service, most of the time at the Coast Guard station in Hawaii. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Circleville, where he held many offices. He also was a member the Kiwanis Club in Circleville and was active in the annual Pumpkin Festival there. When living in Adrian he was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his loss two sons, David Knight (Chris) of Columbus, and Alan Knight of Columbus, and a daughter Janet (Mike) Scott of Las Vegas, Nevada, one grandson, Dustin (Gina) Knight of Lancaster, Ohio, and one great-grandson, Spencer Chad Knight of Lancaster, Ohio. He also leaves two sisters in Adrian, Fern Trebilcock and Helen (John) Law, plus several nieces and nephews, and three step-children and their families. Preceding him in death was also his wife, Ruby, in 1957. Burial in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery in Adrian, with of the First Baptist Church in charge.
