Note: 1873 - Chicago Tribune, 19 May 1873: Two years prior to marrying J. Victor McInhill, his father's McInhill Brewery in Aurora suffered minor damage from a fire that burned to the East across the Fox River, in a lumber area. From a 1982 letter from Aunti B's Granddaughter-in-law who knew her well in Florida (1982): Bridget gave up her house in Aurora soon after (Patrick) Kennedy's death (1891) and moved to California. Did she seek a change of residence because Aurora was associated with too much loss (the death of three husbands). Did she sell the brewery and decide to give her still young children a new start in a more clement clime? Did she travel there to give succor to her uncle Thomas Lalway's two orphaned children, or was there some other reason, yet uncovered? Auntie B and her family were in San Francisco as early as 1892/93. Bridget Mary McInhill’s arrival and subsequent residences in San Francisco, CA: Original arrival date: Between July 17, 1891, (death date of 3rd husband in Illinois was shortly after their wedding) and December of 1892 (for the year included in the 1893 Directory) Arrival calculated to be: 1892 or 1893, from Illinois 1893 CROCKER-LANGLEY SAN FRANCISCO DIRECTORY For the year commencing 1893 (the year ending 1892) NO ENTRY for McInhill, et al 1894 CROCKER-LANGLEY SAN FRANCISCO DIRECTORY For the year commencing 1894 Pg 974 0f 1721 pages McInhill Mary, widow, r. 1513-1/2 Geary (age 49) McInhill Mary Miss, saleslady, r. 1513-1/2 Geary (age 18) 1895 CROCKER-LANGLEY SAN FRANCISCO DIRECTORY For the year commencing 1895 Pg 1026 0f 1884 pages McInhill Mary, widow, 710-3/4 Ellis (age 50) 1895 SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, Tuesday, 13 Aug 1895, page 11: “Last Monday evening the Misses Cassidy of 321 Golden Gate Avenue gave a small reception in the honor of Miss Mary McDonald, who has now resumed her studies at the Ursuline Academy, Santa Rosa. April 25, 1906 Bridget Mary McInhill exited San Francisco by train for Illinois, with her visiting young niece, Martha Claire McCormick (age 24), one of her deceased sister Julia Cargan McCormick’s five (5) daughters. From the 1982 letter to JP McM from Lucy Laborde: "She lived in Cincinnati after she had spent some years after the San Francisco Fire with her sons in Chicago. About 1914, she came to Cincinnati and lived with her daughter and family, Grace McInhill Laborde, mother of Jack LaBorde. About 1925 the LaBordes sold their home in CIncinnati and went to Florida. After the LaBordes got settled in Florida, she went to Florida from Chicago where she had been with her sons and went to Florida to live with the LaBordes. She was a darling with her little Irish brogue. She was always very proud and dressed lovely. She wore a black velvet band around her neck with a pearl pin in front and was very distinguished looking. She was a very charming and interesting lady. She hated Florida and missed Chicago with streets, sidewalks, lights."
