Note: Philip was postmaster for 20 yrs and a justice of the peace. He was a clerk and trustee of the Pleasant View church in 1872. he was a personal acquaintence of Abraham Lincoln and enjoyed Mr. Lincoln's confidence. During the war, he held a civil appointment.
