Note: NEWPORT NEWS - William Ray Clark, 89, passed away at his home in Newport News on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007. A native of Lynnville, Tenn., he was a Newport News resident for the past 55 years. He was the owner of Ray's Land Clearing & Landscaping and was a pig farmer after retirement. Ray was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Katherine Cavnar Clark; his daughter, Edna Ray Meade; his son-in-law, Doug Johnson; and his brother, Frank Clark. He is survived by his son, Clarence and Janet Clark; three daughters, Barbara and Leon Rose, Hazel and Paul Fisher, Frances Johnson; his son-in-law, Jerry Meade; seven grandchildren, Norman Ray Derreberry, Sara McLaughlin and her husband, Buck, Shawna Meade, Amy Lodge, Shannon Meade, Ian Clark, and Derek Clark; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon Lodge, Ian McLaughlin, William McLaughlin, and Savana McLaughlin. He is also survived by his brother, Wilburn Clark and sister, Virginia Boatright of Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted by Bob McCoy, a close family friend, at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at the Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
