Sara Neely Sweeney, 90, of Lewisburg, formerly of Cornersville, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, in Maury Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Sweeney was a Marshall County native and daughter of the late William Knox and Sadie Pickle Glenn. She was a member of the Belfast Union Presbyterian Church. She was retired from Genesco Corporation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Brown Sweeney, and two sons-in-law, Randal Sands and Charles Hickerson. She is survived by two daughters, Cecilia Sands of Franklin and Glynda Jacobs of Germantown; one brother, Harold Glenn of Lewisburg; sister, Louise Nelms of Belfast; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted by Steve Thomas Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Round Hill Cemetery at Belfast.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Sands, Glen Hickerson, Chas Hickerson, Shaun Harbison, Clay Glenn, Jim Jacobs, and Caleb Allen.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Belfast Presbyterian Church and Bobby Sands.
The family will be at London Funeral Home Wednesday until the funeral hour for visitation.
