 Ordered by the Court that James PATTERSON be appointed overseer of the Reeds Gap Road commenceing on the ridge between Richland and Cane Creek and terminating at or near Price W. BROOKS.
  Marshall County Court Term Minutes Vol. A, 1836-1840
 James LOONEY appeared in court, and complained that he would be damaged by opening the road as now marked out from Reeds gap Elk ridge to the Fayetteville road near Price BROOKS and asks a Jury to Examine that part of the road from said gap to said BROOKS and assess damages or alter said road so that he will not be damaged, whereupon James BROWN Silas McCLELLAND S. C. CHITWOOD William CRUNK & Joseph MARSH be appointed to Examine said road agreeable to complaint and make report to the next term of the court.
