Registered 31 May 1816 Ref: Land Deed Genealogy of Lincoln County Tennessee Vol 1 1809-1818. 14 Jul 1818 Deed from Littleton Caple to Davis Willis for 71 1/2 acres in Bedford County for $400. Ref: Bedford County DB O, pg 258, Marshall County Historical Quarterly, Vol XIV, Fall 1983 In 1836 Davis was living in District 15 of Bedford Co., TN. It is noted in the 1836 Taxlist that elections appointed to be held at Davis Willis home on the Pulaski Pike. District 15 Elk Ridge to Lincoln County line. MARSHALL COUNTY TENNESSEE COURT MINUTES-FEBRUARY 1837 SEESSION-7 February 1837 Wherseas it is made known to this court that a majority of the citizens living in District No. 15 wishes that the precinct at Davis Willises be moved to Lewisburg. Whereupon it is ordered by the court that all Election in future held for said District shall be held in the town of Lewsiburg MARSHALL COUNTY TENNESSEE COURT MINUTES--OCTOBER 1837 SESSION- 2 October 1837 It having been represented to this Court that Davis WILLIS late of the Co. hath departed this life leaving no last will and testament and Patsy WILLIS and Thomas ROSS having applied for letters of administration on said Deceased's estate and the Court being satisfied of their right to obtain them, and having also entered into bond in the sum of Twelve thousand dollars with Henry COLLINS, John WEAVER & John B. FOWLER securities, the same was accordingly granted they having qualified as the law directs. Ordered by the court that Ezekiel McKNIGHT, John B. FOWLER and Thomas H. HARDIN be appointed commissioners to set apart and assign one years provision to Patsey WILLIS, widow of Davis WILLIS dec'd. Issued. MARSHALL COUNTY, TN - COURT- Minutes NOVEMBER 1837 SESSION Patsy WILLIS administrator and Thos. ROSS administrator appeared in open Court and presented an Inventory of the personal property of Davis WILLIS Deceased which was ordered to be recorded. The commissioners appointed at the last term of this Court to lay off one years provision for Patey WILLIS widow of Davis WILLIS deceased, made their report in the words & figures following (to wit) We the undersigned freeholders of Marshall Co. after being duly sworn have proceeded to set apart to Patey WILLIS widow of David WILLIS deceased so much of the crop and provisions on hand as will be sufficient in our opinion to support her and her family one year from the death of her said family We set apart to her for said purpose the following articles Vez: Twenty five bushels of wheat, Seventy five Barrels of corn Fifteen hundred pounds of pork, One milch cow and calf first choice, one barrel salt, one stan and the honey that is in the stan, the stock of wool which is on hand and twenty pounds of Tallow this 23rd day of November 1837. HARDEN appeared in Court & was duly appointed guardian for Thomas WILLIS minor orphan of Davis WILLIS deceased who entered into bond in the sum of six hundred dollars with James OSBURN his security which was accepted by the Court. Thomas ROSS appeared on open Court & was duly appointed Guardian for Jesse WILLIS, minor orphan of Davis WILLIS deceased who entered into bond in the sum of six hundred dollars with John W. RECORD his security which was accepted by the Court. H. Wood and Mary M. Wood, his wife, and received in office and recorded 20th May 1839. We William H. Wood and Mary M. Wood formerly Mary M Willis have this day sold unto Edmund Bradley for the sum of two hundred and forty dollars for a tract of land in Marshall County and in District No. 15 as laid out by the Commissioners in divisions of the lands of Davis Willis, deceased, among the heirs of the said Davis Willis, deceased.
