Note: In 1804 James married Mary Clark, daughter of Revolutionary War veteran Anthony Clark. For the next ten years he lived in Rutherford Co., NC, working for and with the Clarks. As the War of 1812 raged Anthony Clark, his sons, sons-in-law and their families headed west to now what is Middle Tennessee. From 1814 until 1830, James bought and sold land continually, moving from one farm to another in Bedford, Rutherford and Lincoln Counties. In 1825 James purchased 900A on Richland Creek between Ostella and Spring Place. By 1836, when Marshall Co. was formed, he had sold this land and was living on land just to the SE of Lewisburg where he lived until his death. 1820 Bedford Co., TN Census 4M<10, 1M10-15, 1M 16-18, 1M 16-25, 1M 45>; 1F 10-15, 1F 16-25, 29 Aug 1835 James Glenn, Deed for 106 3/4/ acres of land lying on the waters of West Rock Creek and executed to him by Martin Davis and recorded 18th January 1837. This indenture made 29th August 1835 between Martin Davis of Bedford County of the one part and James Glenn of the same place of the other part for the sum of six hundred and fifty dollars paid by the said James Glenn sold a tract of land in Bedford County on the waters of the West Fork of Rock Creek and joining Rambow's line.
