Her May Queen picture is in Tacoma News Tribune for May 21, 1923 and May 10, 1923. Following graduation, she taught school in St. John, WA where she met and married Gordon Watkins. Their honeymoon trip was a "cruise" to Alaska. After their move to Athena, OR, Esther only taught on a substitute basis, and was active in church and community affairs. She was a member of Eastern Star and several local clubs.
