a. Note:   e of German origin, and immigrated to this country. She met and married Francois Bauer, whom she called "Francie". She was a typical farm wife of the early part of the 20th century, living in a house with no electricity, no indoor bathroom, heated with wood stove, cooked with wood stove. They raised their own vegetables, had cows, chickens, lots of cats. Their income came from selling produce, milk, eggs, timber, etc. They both would work in the apple orchards of Spokane Valley, thinning in the spring; picking in the fall; or working in the packing plant.
  Mary is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Spokane, WA alongside her husband.
