a. Note:   The burial register for St. Mary's parish church, Whitby, indicates that Mary Ann was 11 months old when she died.
 Her baptism has not been found but the GRO birth index confirms that she was a twin sister to James Burnett -they were born in the June quarter of 1858. At that time, their father was the tenant miller of Wren's Mill in Bagdale, Ruswarp.
