Note: Joseph was the main beneficiary of his father's will, which was proved in York on Jan. 8, 1916. He and his brother Robert were joint executors of the will. From details given in the will it is possible to deduce that Joseph was married, his wife's name was Martha, and in 1915, they had at least two children: Mary and Lucy. (Lucy's married name was Kent). Details of Joseph's marriage were eventually found, and the birth of his son Wilf in 1905, but so far the births of Lucy and Mary have not been found. Joseph and his family lived at 6 Coveny St., Moors, Cardiff -he is listed at that address in street indexes for 1913, 1915, 1922, 1924, and 1927. After 1927, Mrs. M. Burnett is listed at the address until 1937 -Joseph had presumably died before 1929 (or was continually absent). [BURNETT Picture.ged.FTW] Baptism register of Whitby Methodist Chapel also gives date of Joseph's birth as 21 Sep 1860. It is known that his father was at Wren's Mill, Stakesby at this time - it has been assumed that Joseph was born in the mill house at Stakesby.
