Note: Whitby Museum Archive records: Henry Yeoman, bachelor, Ruswarp, 22yrs., married Rachel Elizabeth Dobson, 23 yrs., single, daughter of John Dobson, Exciseman, Ellerby, at St. Mary's, Whitey Parish Church, 11-25-1852. The 1851 census was the first one in England when a lot of detail was given. 1841 had names and rough ages but did not give the relationships of the people nor exactly where they were from, just the county. So many years back, as a finding aid, lots of Family History people in England set about producing indexes of the 1851 census records. These are not arranged as recorded but by surname and then given name and thus the only way to guess whether people are related is to see if they are on the same folio. One folio would cover several houses so having the same folio does not mean the same household. If the person is important to you then the actual census should be checked. The census for Ruswarp has the reference - Census No HO 107, Piece Ref No 2374 and the index gives, for the YEOMAN name: (all were born in the county of YKS) Given name age Where born Folio David 38 Barnby 573 David 3 Ruswarp 573 Ellen 18 Egton 551 Francis 7 Ruswarp 573 Henry 21 Ruswarp 573 Jane 72 Lythe 539 Jane 8 Ruswarp 573 John 2 mth Ruswarp 573 Maria 42 Barnby 573 Mary 49 Whitby 527 Mary 48 Lofthouse 527 Mary 39 Barnby 573 Mary 6 Ruswarp 573 Rachel 23 Whitby 527 Thomas 77 Barnby 573 Thomas 11 Barnby 573 Copy Death Certificate -Pa.
