Robert was living in one of two cottages bought by his brother George Burnett, who built a wind corn mill on the land beside the property. 1870: Robert was farming at "Ewe Cote", Ruswarp, when his daughter Ann Elizabeth gave birth to an illegimate son names Thomas Burnett and married James Elders two months later. 1871 census: 1881 census: farming at "The Hall Farm", Ruswarp, with his second wife Elizabeth, 11 yrs. old grandson John Thomas, and a 3 yr. old Thomas who was recorded as his son.
