Dec. 22, 1842-Nov. 5, 1888 Georgetown SC Queries, Rootsweb, Moore Cemetery response: Posted by Pam Traynham <pawz@bellatlantic.net> on Mon May 21, 2001: The couple in the Moore Cemetery are my great great grandparents, David and Mary. the cemetery is not located behind Rose Hill Church although many people think it is. It is actually on a piece of land owned by Cal Dawson and is only accessible in the fall or late winter/early spring. If you try to go in the spring or summer, you can't get to it because of dense foliage that surrounds the area. If you go in the fall and winter, you risk getting shot. Cal uses the land for hunting during those seasons. My cousin Hadrian and another cousin had cleaned the area and placed a fence around the cemetery. It was once knocked down by a storm and they replaced it. No one has been out there in several years. There used to be several graves there; and you can still see where they were because they have now collapsed. The stones are long gone. I have talked to Cal about moving my grandparents to a more easily accessible location and his is very interested in that, but I have not settled on a place to move them.
