Notes
a. Note:   Christopher Stehely is mentioned in the Giessendanner records only once, when he marries Elizabeth Schwarz in 1752. Christopher was at least her third husband, and may therefore be a much older man than is indicated here. He may even be of
the same generation as Hans Georg Steheli, in which case he could be the father of some of the children attributed to Hans Georg. It seems clear that Maria and Elizabeth Stehely are Hans Georg's children, because their mother, Maria Linder
(called "Mary Stehey, widow") appears at baptisms for their children or families close to them. Johannes is explicitly called the child of Hans Georg Steheli and Maria Linder. But Peter Stehely has no such direct or indirect evidence. Could
he be a child of Christopher?
Maria, Elizabeth, and Peter would seem all to have been born before 1735, when the family came to America. But Hans Georg's land grant of 200 acres indicates only a family of four. That, too, suggests that Peter may be of another Stehely
 family, most likely Christopher's.
