a. Note:   Susannah Pearson Smoak made her will on Jan. 22, 1880. It was probated Sept. 1, 1892, and is filed in Apartment 89, package 5, in the office of the Judge of Porbate, Orangeburg County Courthouse. In it, she names two daughters, and her son,
 Franklin T. Smoak, appointing him executor. She also names her two grandchildren by her oldest daughter, Maria Jane, who married John Ray. She noted them as Sarah Ann Garity and William Henry Ray.
  Henry Lewis Smoak and his second wife, Susannah Pearson, are buried in unmarked graves in the Pearson Fam. Cem. near the present town of Bolentown, between Orangeburg and Norway, Orangeburg County, SC
