 George McMichael settled in Orangeburg District, South Carolina in 1759. He married Ursula Giessendanner, daughter of Jacob Giessendanner. Ursula was first married to William Leysaht.
 George McMichael was a Loyalist, Tory, served in the Orangeburg British Militia in The Revolutionary War, received his commission as a Major in 1880 and served under the command Col. John Fisher. But his sons as well as his son-in-laws fought
 for the Americans in the war.

 volume of citations issued from 1771 to 1775, and now in the Probate Court in Charleston, is the earliest the writer has foundconcerning him: ?Citation Grt. To George McMichael of St. Matthews?s parish Berkley County to Administer on the Estate
 & Effects of Jacob Giessondanner late of the parish & County aforesaid Deceased as next of kin. To be read in the Parish Chn of St. Matthew & returned. Certified October 2d, 1771.? He obtained two grants of land in 1774. The first of 232 acres,
 was certified June 23, 1774, as having been surveyed, and was granted to him July 8, 1774. The second tract was located on Cedar Creek, in the fork between the Congaree and Wateree rivers and contained 100 acres. A certificate of survey was
