Note: Richard joined the Navy at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged. He worked for United Fruit Co. for 47 years. He became manager of the Chiquita Brands Co. in Charleston and transferred with the company to Savannah in 1988. He retired in
1991 as manager of Chiquita Brands Co. in Savannah, Ga. and returned to Charleston, SC. He was a faithful memer of Bethel United Meth. Church in Charleston, SC and a devoted usher for Bethel's 9:00 am service.

Richard Staley - James Island - Services for Richard "Dick"
H. Staley, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bethel United Meth. Church with burial in Kinsey Cem. in Round O. McAlister-Smith Fun. Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Staley died Thurs. Born in Lone Star, he spent 47 years as a manager with United Fruit Company, Charleston, and later, Savannah. He was a member of Bethel United Meth. Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Weeks Staley; son, Richard Staley, Jr., daughters, Elizabeth Lizette Weaver, and Jane Kite; sister, Rosanne Owens of Sumter; grandchildren: Michael Stapleton, Richard Weaver, Angela Haines, Hannah Gillespie, Taylor
Staley; two great grandchildren.
