Sunday at Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1316 Park avenue. Dr. Gottling died yesterday (Wednesday, January 7) at his home in Baltimore after an illness of two years. Born in Baltimore, Dr. Gottling graduated from City College, received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 1919, an M.A. in physics and Ph.D. in physics and mathematics, all from the Johns Hopkins University A science teacher, he first taught at the old Gary Army-Navy Preparatory School, then at College and later at Poly. Continued Career Although he retired from Poly in 1957, he continued his teaching career at Loyola College, Grove City (Pa.) College, Drexel Institute and the Hopkins. Dr. Gottling was member of Brown Memorial for 45 years, serving as deacon and elder. Sang in Choir For more than 42 years he sang tenor in the choir. He was a 50-year member of the MasonÕs Doric Lodge. Survivors include his wife, the former Ruth Goe; two sons, Philip F. Gottling, Jr., of Cincinnati, and Dr. James G. Gottling, of Columbus, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
