 Mr. Donald C. Malmquist - 321 Whitcomb, Kalamazoo, passed away Thursday May 19, 1977, at Borgess Hospital. Mr. Malmquist was born June 21, 1942, in Chicago. He had attended high school in Bangor, graduated from Western Michigan University, was a veteran of Vietnam and had resided in Kalamazoo for the past 6 years, where he worked at the Kalamazoo County Health Dept. Surviving are his wife, Judy; one daughter, Jennifer, at home; his mother, Mrs. Louise Malmquist; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Laura Smith, both of Bangor; 2 uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Malmquist. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at the Stafford-Robbins Funeral Home, Bangor Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Stafford-Robbins Funeral Home in Bangor with Rev. Father Norbert Wheeler officiating and interment will be in Arlington Hill Cemetery, Bangor. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Those wishing may make memorials to the Michigan Heart Association.

 Don Malmquist, died in 1977, age 33, while in the hospital waiting for a heart-bypass operation that had been postponed because the condition of other patients were deemed more critical. He was a charming brilliant man, an expert Egyptologist, knowledgeable about astronomy, government, and every thing else he took an interest in. He participated in civil rights marches, went down south to register blacks to vote, and traveled to help with JFK's presidental campaign. [Anne]
